Vision, Mission, Purpose, and Foundational Principles

VISION

The Inter-Lakes School District strives for a culture of excellence that is guided by our foundational principles. The Inter-Lakes community provides opportunities and resources for students to develop command of academic and personal competencies, guide their own learning, engage in their communities, and develop their ability to apply their knowledge to new learning and future aspirations.

MISSION

The mission of the Inter-Lakes School District is to ensure that the youth of Center Harbor, Meredith, and Sandwich are able to access a public education focused on their continuous development.

PURPOSE

The District's purpose is to cultivate students’ academic and personal growth, empowering them to become resilient, self-reliant and life-long learners, skillful communicators, critical thinkers, effective collaborators, and engaged citizens.

FOUNDATIONAL PRINCIPLES

A culture of excellence is a learning environment where personal and collective achievement, continuous improvement, and a commitment to quality are the norm. Inter-Lakes will accomplish this through intentional action in the following domains:

THE LEARNING/PROFESSIONAL DOMAIN
  • Recognizing every student as unique and capable of learning.
  • Empowering students to take ownership of their learning and growth.
  • Providing experiences that are engaging, differentiated, rigorous, data-informed, and evidence-based.
  • Embracing challenges as opportunities.
  • Attracting and retaining educators and staff committed to the mission/purpose/vision of the Inter-Lakes School District.
  • Engaging in the pursuit of mastery of one’s craft through continuous professional learning with the objective of improving student outcomes.
THE INTERPERSONAL DOMAIN
  • Upholding respect and dignity for all.
  • Modeling the ability to resolve conflict productively.
  • Encouraging learning through a variety of perspectives.
  • Nurturing the social, emotional, and physical well-being of all.
  • Demonstrating integrity and respect for differences.
THE PHYSICAL DOMAIN:
  • Building and maintaining facilities that support academic, behavioral, co-curricular, athletic, and safety needs.
  • Caring for learning spaces and resources entrusted to us.
  • Cultivating responsibility for the natural environment.
THE COMMUNITY DOMAIN:
  • Balancing rich student opportunities with fiscal responsibility.
  • Anchoring the relationship between schools and the community through mutual investment - where the communities support student growth and the school communities give back through service and engagement.
  • Fostering student success through shared responsibility among students, families, community, and staff.
