Confirmed COVID-19 Case at Sandwich Central School

April 8, 2021

Good afternoon, Inter-Lakes Families,

Re:         Confirmed Case COVID-19 at Sandwich School;
               School Transportation Used - Bus 11
               In-person Learning will Continue – No Interruption

This afternoon we have learned of a confirmed positive case of COVID-19 for a member of the Sandwich Central School community.  Inter-Lakes extends our well wishes to this person and their family.  The individual was last in school on Tuesday, April 6; school transportation was used.  At this time, we are completing contact tracing to determine if there are any close contacts.  The classroom impacted will be notified and Mr. Hillger, SCS Principal, will send an email communication to families notifying them when calls are complete.

We are maintaining our in-person learning without interruption, however, if a family has a concern, please contact your child’s school and if necessary, an absence will be excused.

I appreciate this has been an active week for COVID-19 in our school communities.  There is no known connection and no evidence at this time for school transmission.  The reality is that community spread is still high.  Continued diligence of our mitigation efforts is critically important especially with “Spring Fever” in the air.  Thank you to everyone for your continued efforts and support as we work together to keep our community well and learning.  Be well, Inter-Lakes!

Respectfully,

Mary A. Moriarty
Superintendent of Schools
